Three

third birthday

My little guy turned three last week. THREE. Like, not a toddler anymore.

I know two is supposed to be terrible and trying, but for us, it was great. There really isn’t anyway I can capture this little guy’s vibrant personality in words, but I’ll try nonetheless.

Kabes is a ball full of energy; a little spitfire who’s already three going on thirteen. He’s full of threenage attitude already, but he’s also oh-so-sweet and loving. He’s go-with-the-flow, adaptable, and always up for an adventure. He loves all things trucks, trains, and robots, along with anything that lets him make a mess or go fast. He tells me everyday all the things he’s going to do when he “gets bigger tomorrow”. He’s full of love for his family and friends, and while wanting to be wildly independent, he doesn’t like to be far from anyone. “Far” often means a maximum of three feet. Three inches if it’s me.

He’s curious and smart, checking things out carefully and remembering the craziest of things. He knows his letters, numbers, shapes, and colors, but would rather sing, dance, jump, and run then let on he knows things. He says his full  name and introduces himself to anyone that will listen. He picks a song of the week {or month} and sings it over and over again nonstop. This month is combo of “Jingle Bells” and “Everybody Wants to Be a Cat”. My favorite is probably the Hokey Pokey and his associated dance. He loves exploring the Science Center, riding his bike, and collecting rocks to throw in the stream. He hates being stuck inside on the dreary cold days and his attitude matches his demeanor.

Kabes likes to be in charge, constantly tell me what to do and that he’s “the leader”. He has an opinion on everything, from the way I drive my car, to how I make dinner, to how I play with him. He’s snuggly and smiley, with a little bit of temper and attitude thrown in. Just enough to keep me on my toes and appreciate the moments where he’s being nice and happy.

Some of his funnier moments:

>> “Mommy, drive with two hands, or you might bonk into the trees!”

>> “Mommy, I like you. Can we hang out?”

>> Me: “K, you have 2 options: Option 1- Eat your dinner.
Option 2- Go take a bath… What’s it going to be?”  KB: “Option 3- Play!”

>> Me: “K, the clock says it’s time to take a nap.”
K: “Yeah, but the CAR says it’s time to PLAY!”

>> “Me: K, let’s take 5 minutes to see how many things we can pick up off the floor before go outside and play. K: Why, who’s coming to my house?”

>> Holds red lollipop to his nose: “Mommy, I’m a reindeer!”

>> “No please.” {Instead of no thanks.}
