Baby SoS: 2 Weeks

by tinysneakers

Two weeks already? Time has flown by. I’m already in mourning that you’re growing up too fast.

baby 2 weeks

Your cheeks and chin are starting to fill out. Daddy calls you his little chubster, but you should just ignore him. Eat away little man!

The doctor wanted you to reach your birth weight by the time you were 2 weeks old. Not only did you do that, you threw in an extra 10 ounces just to prove a point. At your 2 week appointment you weighed 6 lbs 10.5 ounces and were 18.5 inches long. Don’t worry, you didn’t really shrink- they just measure you a little differently than in the hospital.

You’re getting better and better at the whole breastfeeding thing. You struggled earlier in the week and we were worried it was upsetting your stomach. Mommy’s been very careful with what she’s been eating to make sure it doesn’t bother you, and we usually eat laying back so you don’t chug that delicious milk so fast. We had so many visitors your first week, which was wonderful, but you finally said enough was enough. You got tired of being passed around and made sure to let us know. As soon as it was just the three of us you calmed down. We took a break from visitors and you quickly returned to your mellow self.

We spent the rest of the week hanging out and relaxing together. You keep us thoroughly entertained with your faces and poses, especially when you’re sleeping. My favorite face is when you’re in a daze from nursing and don’t realize you’re not eating anymore- you purse your lips in a little circle and stick them out; it’s as cute as can be. Daddy’s a big fan of your Tebow impression and your sleeping super hero pose, one arm under your chin and the other extended out by your ear, like you’re off to save the world in your sleep.

You’ve started to stay awake a little more this week. Sometimes you decide it’s the most fun during the middle of the night, but most of the time it’s during the day when we can play. You can completely pick your head up, although you only like to do it while you’re being held, not during tummy time.

You hate being swaddled- you like having your arms free to swing around like a boxer ready to strike. It’s no surprise considering how you made you arrival into this world, hands in front of your face, just like in your ultrasounds.

chill baby

Your belly button healed up this week so you got your first real bath. You hate being cold so you weren’t the biggest fan, but you did a great job. You don’t seem to mind having water in your eyes at all.

I can’t believe how fast you’re growing and how much you’re changing every day. Slow down bubba!

Ouch! You can still see the holes in his heels from the billirubin tests! Poor little man! (he’s adorable!)

I bet he will absolutely love having these weekly letters from his Mama someday. What a wonderful way to chronicle and share. 🙂

So cute!! Is he in NB sizes in these photos? (just trying to get a sense of how they fit babies of different sizes!!)

Yup! Most of the newborn stuff is pretty big on him right now, but we’ve found everything is sized a little differently- a couple things fit perfectly and some are huge even though they all say NB.

Love him!!! I can’t wait to meet him. Pat says he looks like Chris!! I kinda see both- does he resemble any of your baby pictures??
