35 Weeks & Celebrating in Style

by tinysneakers

“So do you think you guys could come down for Christmas this year?…Because you can’t travel that far when you’re 36 weeks pregnant.”

Those were the words I blurted out as we sat down to a sushi-dinner. Let’s ignore that my facts and dates were wrong- it was the best I could come up with to share my news before trying to explain why I couldn’t share my favorite sushi rolls.

That day seems like a looooong time ago, but low and behold the day I was talking about way back when came and went this past weekend. Christmas at almost 35 weeks pregnant.

Although technically I was given permission for a road trip until 36 or 37 weeks, the husband felt much more comfortable being near our own hospital. Can’t say I blame him. Luckily, my mom and step-dad were able to come to NC to celebrate with us, so it ended being a-ok. Smile

What’s Up With Baby

baby at 35 weeks

Baby’s a whopping foot and a half long and weighs 5 1/4 pounds. My bladder and intestine will verify at least that much weight is sitting on top of them. Winking smile No wonder baby can’t move as much as he or she used to. Most of baby’s development is done, it’s just time to keep packing on the pounds before his or her arrival.

What’s Up With Momma

I was concerned last week by how much less the baby was moving around, but my midwife confirmed it was normal to feel less and said if I was ever concerned to call and they’d pop me on a monitor to check things out, which made me feel better. Baby may not be as vigorously active as usual, but we’re certainly practicing for labor- the Braxton-Hicks contractions are back full force, usually just shy of the cut off for calling the doctor. {More than 5 contractions in an hour. I’ve gotten to 5 in an hour and 15 minutes when I’m paying attention.} They don’t hurt-hurt; they’re just uncomfortable. Makes me understand why the real deal is so unpleasant though.

The more exciting stuff going on this past week was Christmas of course.

It was fun to think of all the excitement that will be happening next year with an almost 1 year old.

Looking really cute! I have one more car trip this weekend at 29 weeks and then I’m happily done being away from home. Can’t wait to know girl or boy for us both!

My husband banned all traveling once I was 34 weeks – he was a worried guy but it was sweet and gave me a great excuse for not going anywhere! I little guy is 19 weeks old today – you are going to have so much fun!

You still look as adorable as always and I’m glad you got to spend Christmas with your parents!

Wow you are still just adorable! Our kid were born at 36 and 38 weeks into the pregnancy, so you were right to stay as close to home as possible. Enjoy the final weeks. Make the husband take you out to dinner or do something special just as the two of you since it’s the last time you will ever be able to do that!
