30 Weeks & 10 to Go

by tinysneakers

Number of people who have told me in the past 24 hours “oh my gosh it’s almost here”: 6,495. Approximately.

Yup, we’re getting close. Like really close. Full term in 7 weeks. But to those people- what will you say next month? And the one after that?! I’ve still got 10 to go and I plan on enjoying every kick, hiccup, twist, and punch to the ribcage. So let’s slow down a little.

What’s Up With Baby

baby at 30 weeks

This week our baby is about 15.7 inches long and weighs about 3 pounds. No wonder my lungs and bladder are getting squished. While none of them work particularly well, baby can use all 5 senses now.

How I’m Feeling

Knock on wood, pretty good! Except for a few rough days at the beginning of the week, I might venture to say this is the best I’ve felt all pregnancy. About time! Fingers crossed all the lovely third trimester side effects hold off a little longer. I could do without heartburn, swelling, bloating, and backaches thankyouverymuch.

Working It Out

Oddly enough, working out is one of the few times I feel normal. Probably because you’re supposed to be tired and out of breath when you’re exercising. Winking smile I’ve had to start modifying some of my strength training because I can’t bend over so much at the waist without my belly stopping me, but for the most part, it’s business as usual.

Odds n’ Ends

My belly button feels like it’s going to rip into a million tiny shreds any day now. I always thought people saying they used stretch mark creams “not because they’ll prevent stretch marks but because my belly’s itching” were just using that as a cop out to not admit they were scared of stretch marks. Well, they’re not lying. Between Bio Oil and Dr. Sears stretch mark cream, I’m constantly rubbing something on my belly trying to make the tightness go away. {The Bio Oil is great for general moisturizing and after showers; Dr. Sears is great when the itching/tightness gets bad- it’s super thick & creamy. And it smells good.}

On a side note, if you have your belly button pierced and plan on having babies in the next 5 years, take it out now! I’ve had mine out for at least that long, and I can still feel the scar tissue being pulled and stretched.

Baby To Do’s

1. Find a pediatrician. Who knew you had to do this before you had the baby? Ay ay ay.

2. Work on the nursery. I don’t think a glider and a desk quite a nursery make…

3. Build crib! It’s on the list for Thursday since my boss is giving me the day off. Winking smile

4. Child birth class. It’s in 2 weeks! It seemed a lot farther away when I scheduled that.

So cute! I’m almost 30 weeks myself with #2 and you look incredible! I couldn’t agree more on the workout front. I stopped running at 25 weeks after a car accident and have been riding the bike, walking and going to a boot camp along with strength training. I feel so fantastic and sometimes almost forget about the bump in front (that is until I try to lean forward and the speed bump gets in the way!)

Choosing a pediatrician scared me, but after two friends and my OB all recommended the same practice it was much easier. We just told them the practice at the hospital, met the three doctors who were on call during our hospital stay, and picked the one who did baby’s check up the day of discharge. We ended up with Dr. Cummings at Greensboro Pediatricians on Elam and we love him!
