25 Weeks & Losing Count

by tinysneakers

And the growth spurt continues…

The weeks are moving so fast it’s hard to keep track. The third trimester’s just around the corner, and I can’t decide if I want it to hurry up and get it here, or slow down and let me enjoy the second trimester a little bit longer!

What Baby’s Up To

Apparently this week if you put your ear up to my belly you can hear the baby’s heartbeat without a Doppler. Seeing as I can’t bend my head that direction and the husband thinks that’s weird, I can’t confirm this. Winking smile

Baby is around 13 1/2 inches and weighs a pound and a half, and his or her hair now has color. Air sacs are starting to form in the lungs and surfactant is developing. The lungs won’t work yet, but they’re on their way.

How Things Are Changing

Ever notice those awkward movements pregnant women make when getting up or sitting down, or even just walking? I’m getting an idea why. Something as simple as bending over isn’t exactly easy anymore. I have a feeling I’ll be passing off laundry duty by this winter- I can barely reach the back of the machine. {I’m looking at you, husband.Winking smile}

How I’m Feeling

All in all, things are about the same. The one thing that’s been bothering me is the same thing I’ve avoided mentioning the past couple weeks, hoping it was just going to go away. I have chronic pain in my hands and feet, and over the course of the pregnancy it’s started to creep back. It’s not as bad as it was in the beginning, but it’s definitely here and it seems to be here to stay. This time it’s flip-flopped: it’s worse in my hands than my feet, which I actually prefer. I’m a little worried what this means about taking care of a baby in the middle of the night {when it’s the worst} but there’s no reason to fret about that now when so many things could change by then.

Here’s the background on that: The Beginning, A Little Later, The Middle of the Story, Most Recent.

What I’m Looking Forward To

Finding furniture for the nursery! I finally finished painting this past weekend {I’ll post pictures soon}. Now it’s time to make it a room for a baby instead of just a freshly painted office. I’ve been on the hunt for a second hand dresser to refinish, but so far, no luck. And no, we still haven’t chosen a crib.

Random Fact

Flossing can help prevent preterm delivery. Winking smile
