21 Weeks & Baby’s Dancing

by tinysneakers

I’m at the point where pregnancy feels like it’s flying by. When did I get to 21 weeks? 21! I’m torn between wanting it to keep hurrying up so I can meet my precious baby and wanting it to slow down so I can enjoy the good parts of pregnancy a little longer.

Baby is finally kicking hard enough for me to feel it from the outside of my belly. It started with just one or two thumps on the side of my stomach; so slight I thought maybe I was imagining it. Last night baby decided to have a bedtime dance party though- all kinds of kicks all over the place. It makes me wonder what’s going on in there. Winking smile

I’m also wondering if the freezer stash of salted caramel shortbread I dug into last night after dinner had anything to do with the excitement. I keep thinking of my mom telling me stories of her doctor measuring her baby’s {me!} activity by feeding her sugar instead of doing an ultrasound.

Unfortunately, the husband hasn’t been home during any of the kicking, so he’s still missing out. I think it might weird him out a first, so I’m looking forward to his reaction.

What Baby’s Up To

Baby’s getting close to a pound and is 7 inches long. Grow baby grow! {But not too much!}

Baby can start swallowing {and tasting} amniotic fluid this week- time to start chowing down on my veggies so I don’t have a picky eater on my hands.

How I’m Changing

Although I feel like pregnancy is flying by right now, when I break it down week by week, I don’t feel like much has changed. Not this week anyways. My belly bump is pretty much there. It still gets a lot bigger at night time than in the morning, but there’s no denying I’m pregnant. Sometimes it’s a lot bigger on one side than the other- I think baby prefers the right side. Odds ‘n Ends

I’ve had a couple close calls with nose bleeds this past week- not full on nosebleeds, but definitely threatening. My only real complaint is back pain. I’ve discovered when I do a lot of standing I turn into a old lady and my back aches at the end of the day- so much that I can’t sleep. Fortunately, it goes away when I go back to being sloth-like and lazy. I can’t imagine what it’s going to be like down the road- I barely have a bump to support right now.

What I’m Looking Forward To

After spending the first few months of pregnancy putting the brakes on making plans for a nursery and baby gear, suddenly it’s time! More than time- I feel a little behind all of a sudden. I can’t wait to start planning a nursery and picking out baby things, although I can’t imagine how I’ll ever make a decision on anything. Just one nursery design?! Ay, yi yiii.

You are so cute! You can tell you’re pregnant now in that first picture! Makes me want my bump to show up 😛

Oh, your bump is adorable! (also, I vote girl)
Mine is definitely harder at night too- so weird. But now I wake up in the morning and it’s “there”, unlike a week or so ago when I would think “where’s it gone!?”

Have fun with the nursery!

I voted for you! 🙂

You look amazing and your tummy looks like mine after I’ve eaten breakfast…or any meal for that matter 😉

That’s so exciting baby is having a dance party, too cute! Have fun decorating the nursery, what an exciting time 🙂
