The Infamous 11 Things

It’s The Chain Letter 2.0…

Theodora & Amanda tagged me and I want them to keep liking me so I’m obliging and doing it. Smile

Rules

  1. Post these rules
  2. You must post 11 random things about yourself.
  3. Answer the questions set for you in their post.
  4. Create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer.
  5. Go to their blog and tell them that you’ve tagged them.
  6. No stuff in the tagging section about “you are tagged if you are reading this”. You legitimately have to tag 11 people.

Random Facts

{one} I can’t straighten my arms or legs.

{two} All alarm clocks, microwaves, timers, etc., must be set to a number ending in 3 or 7. This includes forcing the husband to do the same when he sets an alarm for both of us to get up.

{three} I can’t nap. I’m really, really wishing this one would change these days.

{four} I’d much rather get up early than go to bed late.

{five} I haven’t seen the majority of most popular classic movies. Think Star Wars, Rocky,

{six} Arnold Schwarzenegger is my second {third?} cousin by marriage.

{seven} I don’t like chocolate. I only eat it when necessary, such as when it surrounds the caramel-y, cookie-y insides of a Twix bar. Or in pancakes.

{eight} I can’t do long division. I moved up math classes in 5th grade before the class I was in covered it and I’ve never learned since. Somehow I made it through Calculus 2 without it. Don’t tell my teachers.

{nine} I’m the best procrastinator in the world. I’ll tell you more about that later.

{ten} I’ve been known to injure myself walking into walls and doorways…

{eleven} I don’t like my food to touch unless it’s supposed to. I would be happy if all meals were served on children’s plates with built in dividers. Until then, I will shameless balance my plate as needed with my silverware so things don’t run into each other.

Questions {A Combo from Theodora & Amanda}

[one] What book do you think everyone should read but no way in hell would you share your own copy? The Cider House Rules

[two] If you could get a degree in ANYTHING (without having to worry about silly things like finding a job in that field), would you get a degree in? Dolphin therapy

[three] If you had twenty-four free hours and unlimited funds in your own city/town, how would you spend them? Take a trip somewhere else. Winking smile I kid, I kid. I’d eat somewhere fancy I can’t afford, drink over-priced beers at my favorite wine bar {yes I said beer at the wine bar}, go to hot yoga, and run a marathon. As in, organize, not actually run. Maybe run too. It’d be free and it’d go all through downtown.

[four] Which celebrity could you actually see yourself being friends with? Ryan Reynolds. What, you don’t see that happening?

[five] If you’re not married–where would your dream honeymoon be? If you are married and could do your honeymoon over again, where would you go? Somewhere with one of those huts that have a floor that opens directly into tropical waters.

[six] If you had to live in one season for the rest of your life, which season would it be? Spring. With a close second of Fall. Winter & summer I can do without. Except for wakeboarding and playing in the snow…

[seven] Did you play sports in high school? Field hockey, track, drill team. Dance.

[eight] What’s your favorite drink at Starbucks? Tall skinny soy cinnamon dolce latte. Can I have one now please?

[nine] FAVORITE WILL FERRELL MOVIE. Just one? No way. Zoolander. Anchorman. Old School. Talladega Nights. Pretty much anything but Step Brothers. I love lamp.

[ten] Runners: what’s your dream race? Non-runners: what’s your fitness dream? A Ragnar-type relay. Or any mud-run/obstacle course race.

[eleven] The last song you listened to. Citizen Cope’s Let the Drummer Kick. I’m assuming the monotonous song on the baby swing doesn’t count.

My Questions

1. If you could get paid to do anything in the world without worrying about being realistic, what would you do? I supposed normal people would refer to this as a dream job.

2. You can only live one place for the rest of your life and it can’t be anywhere you’ve lived before. Where would it be?

3. If you were a celebrity, what would you be famous for?

4. Can you recite the Greek alphabet?

5. If you got to be on any game show you wanted, which one would it be?

6. Roller blades or skates?

7. What’s your biggest fear?

8. If you could name yourself, what name would you chose?

9. Would you rather go the Olympics or the Oscars?

10. Favorite thing to order in a restaurant.

11. You’re the pilot on a plane. You can fly it anywhere you want. Where would you go?

Happy Friday!!

Tour de KERFville

Charlottesville is hands down one of my favorite towns. Because of it’s location and it’s entertainment options, Cville has become the rendezvous point for my mom and I since I moved to NC. It’s exactly between the two of us, and there’s always something to do.

We’ve been to wineries, breweries, restaurants, historical touristy attractions, and more. But never have I gotten to enjoy the town with friends and such good food. Smile This weekend Cville turned to KERFville!

IMG_9993IMG_9997

The place: Cville

The occasion: Kath’s b-day

The crew: Meghann, Sarah, Allie, Christine, and the birthday girl herself. (Plus Cara & Brittany & more!)

IMG_0085

I pulled into Cville just in time for lunch at the Downtown Mall- a trendy-yet-quaint outdoor shopping & dining spot in the center of town.

IMG_0005

Soup, salad, and pumpkin bread at Eppie’s was just the start of good weekend of eats.

IMG_0007

Spinach, date, corn, and goat cheese salad. Good at first, but by the end I was over it. The extra pumpkin bread may have hitched a ride in my purse. Winking smile

IMG_0006

Followed by peppermint patty fro yo & brownie goo at Arch’s.

IMG_0011

Forget about the fro yo- it was all about the ooey gooey side of brownie batter.

IMG_0017

Just in case ice cream & brownies weren’t enough for birthday celebrating, we hit up two local wineries: Blenheim & Kluge, both of which I find extremely difficult to pronounce, even before you factor in the wine.

IMG_0038IMG_0018

First up, Blenheim:

IMG_0025

I took copious notes. See?

IMG_0026IMG_0031

(Why take notes when you can just drink?!)

IMG_0041IMG_0034

IMG_0044

I’ve never met a wine I didn’t like, but I wasn’t blown away by any of them.

Next up: Kluge

IMG_0067IMG_0076IMG_0077

It didn’t matter what the wine tasted like, they get automatic kudos for presentation style. (But the wine was really good.)

We might have split 14 wine samples between the 7 of us.

IMG_0070IMG_0074IMG_0080

So far: good meal, good dessert, good wine… what more could you want?!

How about some serious beer sampling?!

Homebrews a la Matt. The oatmeal stout was like coffee & beer all combined into one (my kind of beer!).

IMG_0105IMG_0106

I don’t even need to tell you the pumpkin brew was delicious.

We even got a lesson in the history of pumpkin beer, followed by a showdown of bottled pumpkin brews. I think I might have found a rival for my beer-nerd buddy Ian…

IMG_0118

First there was one. Then two. Then three.

IMG_0117IMG_0126IMG_0129

Let the showdown begin!

IMG_8206

The Cottonwood & Schlafly’s were the clear winners. Cottonwood for multiple bottle consumption, Schlafly’s for enjoying pie in a bottle. (Try saying Schlafly’s 3x fast. I can hardly spell it.)

Of course there was good food too. I can’t even begin to tell you what was there.

IMG_0114

All I know was Andrea’s butternut squash & mushroom empanadas were to die for, the pumpkin goat cheese rocked my socks off, and those gingerbread cookies were as good as they look. Yum.

IMG_0096IMG_0098IMG_0112

Just in case all of that wasn’t enough, the celebration ended the next morning with a giant batch of the infamous KERF oatmeal.

IMG_8213

Kath: putting the glamorous back in oatmeal.

IMG_8216

How do you think this selection of toppings worked out for my incredibly indecisive nature? Too.many.choices!

IMG_8235IMG_8234

Some of everything’s the way to go. Winking smile Coconut peanut butter, buckwheat granola, ginger pear preserves, Allie bars… I’m sure there was more…

IMG_8242

I’m pretty sure I need to start eating oatmeal on my porch. If only my porch looked like this…

IMG_8248IMG_8251

So glad to see my North Face buddies, Cara & Meghann! Smile (They were at the scene of the knee crime…)

IMG_8254meghann

And thanks to Cara for being the hostess with the mostest! Smile

And with that, the weekend was over in a flash. Whew. (Picture overload much?)
