KB: 10 Months

by tinysneakers

10 months. Double digits.

10 months baby

I don’t even know where to start. I’m now one of those parents that says “I love this age!” with every new age we experience. But I really mean it- our little guy is so.much.fun. Cute, tiny newborns are exactly that: cute & tiny. And snuggly. That’s wonderful. But a 10 month old? Fun. Delight. Joy. There’s nothing that compares to watching him learn and soak in the new and exciting world around him. To have him interact with you- laugh, squeal, and wave- that’s priceless.

To say things are better around here is an understatement. I go to bed at night around 9 and usually get up around 4 or 5am, but that’s it. No endless night time wake up calls. No frantic midnight baby soothing and shushing. No painful reflux cries. No all day screaming. I’m glad nobody told me that this happy-fun-wonderful baby life existed back when we were going through all those early struggles because I would’ve been mad- mad I was missing out on something so unbelievably wonderful. Now that we’re over all that nonsense, we’re just soaking up the good times.

That’s not to say there aren’t cranky moments and whiny days, but they’re not the norm and I feel fully equipped to handle them, knowing smiles are just around the corner. It’s amazing what you can handle when you’re not a complete walking zombie. I’m still tired, but normal momma-tired. Not severe sleep deprived gonna lose her mind crazy person tired.

Our biggest struggle right now is naps. They’re still micro-catnaps and they’re entirely inconsistent when it comes to timing. That makes it hard to plan things with other people and I often feel trapped in the house, especially in the afternoon and evening, much like the newborn days. But that’s ok. As long as we keep the nighttime sleep you won’t hear me complaining…much.

Everything else is great. We finally learned this month why parents complain about teething. Wowzers. Teething = serious case of the cranks, whining, clinginess, snot, and general grumps. Kabes’ first tooth popped through about halfway through the month, followed by a second one just a couple days ago. At least I was able to recognize the signs the second time around.

I’ll say this a thousand times but I love watching him learn new things. In addition to waving, now he “shares” his food, gives high fives, and climbs up stairs. Yes, climbs up stairs. The whole way to the top. Eeps. Baby gate time! {Ok, it was probably baby gate time a couple months ago. Whatever.} He can stand on his own for a decent amount of time and loves “walking” around in wobbly circles while you hold his hands. He LOVES peekaboo, animal noises, and being chased down the hallway. I spend most of my time on all fours on the floor.

Like I mentioned in the baby pancakes post, Kabes didn’t grow much between his 6 and 9 month check ups. We saw a new pediatrician, who I LOVE. I wish we’d been seeing her since day one. She’s not too worried about his weight, but we were instructed to stuff him full of solids and see what happens by the end of this month. She’s also given us the go ahead to wean him off his reflux meds, which makes me beyond happy. Three days into med-weaning disaster struck, so we slowed down and now things are going well. Almost there!

Most of our friends with babies have kiddos with January birthdays, which has forced me to start thinking about KB’s first bday. {Yup, really had to twist my arm there.} I cannot believe that’s just around the corner. ONE YEAR. And what a year.

He really is too cute for words!

I’m loving this age as well. So much fun and interaction.

We *just* got a baby gate before Sawyer turned 10 months since he, too, learned to crawl up the stairs. Luckily he’s learning how to go down them safely as well!

He’s adorable! So glad you got through that tough time in only 10 months! My sister is still battling reflux and sleepless nights, and my niece is 18 months! YIKES!!!

He is sooo cute! His eyes are just mesmerizingly blue! Oh, and I feel ya in the nap department. Liam too has very short 30 minute cat naps all day and they are quite inconsistent. Oh silly boys, will they ever learn? 😉
