Overcoming Injury

The story of an athlete overcoming injury:

A year and a half ago, doctors told me I could forget running. Probably walking too.

In an instant, my world was shattered. But eventually I picked myself up off the ground and literally put one foot in front of the other. And then I did it again. And again. Until eventually I finished a triathlon and two half marathons.

See, I have a chronic pain disorder that’s yet to be figured out, but running was definitely off the table. Suddenly I had lost my identity, sense of self, and my purpose in life wavered.

I won’t rehash the whole pain thing again, but to read more about what happened follow these links:

I started blogging to distract me from an injury that was giving me an identity crisis & trying to put a downspin on my otherwise healthy life. You’ll find quite a bit of healthy, wholesome, nutritious eating thrown in here too.  And I do it all on a budget. :)

Read along to find out how I manage an injury, stay healthy, and eat really awesomely good food.

I am so glad I found your site! It’s such an inspiration. Over three years ago now, I got sick with something that gives me chronic pain and fatigue (among other things). It took two years for me to get diagnosed. Luckily, it is curable. Unluckily, it could take years. Anyway, it totally turned my life upside down. EVERYTHING I did for fun involved being active. I was a hiker, biker, skier and backpacker (although not a runner). Suddenly, even just swimming hurt. I am so excited to learn about your journey! Maybe sometimes I’ll be doing triathlons too!
