GIVEAWAY TIME!!!!

by Heather

How does an Organic Chocolate Indulgence Giveaway sound?! Pretty good, huh? :)

Stonyfield sent me some coupons to try out their latest flavors of Greek yogurt: chocolate & caramel. Now, I’m not a chocolate fan (I know, I know) but the caramel is literal divine. And I’m not just saying that because they sent me a coupon, it’s literally a great treat. Even if you’re not a huge fan of Greek yogurt, I’m betting you might like one of these. ;)

These snacks pack 10 grams of protein into a 4oz, 110 calorie serving. Even in my decreased-dairy days, I love having one every once in awhile.

I guess I didn’t realize that cows are treated with growth hormones..meaning I didn’t realize I was being treated with growth hormones! Yuck! Greater incentive to eat and drink organic!

Something I learned : “Organic milk” means that the cows’ feed, such as corn, soy, and hay, was grown organically.

I love that they have Bio’s for cows on the farms they get their milk from!! I learned that Cocoa the cow (from the Franklin Family Farm) is a Jersey Heifer…I hope that counts as learning something. In reality, it really made me rethink using their products since the main reason I don’t eat animal products is because of the inhumane treatment of the animals.

I learned that Organic farming is not only important as far as the food products go, but also that family farms provide our communities with beautiful, open spaces; rural character; fields and forests for wildlife; and local opportunities for business ownership, independence, and employment.

I learned about what makes up an Organic Systems Plan – this is an incredibly important aspect of organic farming, along with regular audits and maintenance requirements. I have seen reports of “organic” being an overused label, and having these systems in place should help the farmers that are truly doing wonderful organic farming! :)

Oh, and I learned that young children’s organs can’t detoxify as quickly and efficiently as adults, which is one reason it’s so important to feed kids organic dairy. Thanks Stonyfield!
