I love being home!!!
My mom has been trying to start walking/running and has been having a tough time. She kept telling me she felt “clunky” and was “plodding along”.
I took one look at her shoes and figured out why. She was wearing the thickest, clunkiest New Balances I have ever seen. They look like they belong on an 80 year old. The soles are so thick she could probably venture out in a snow storm and never get her feet wet.
So of course I dragged her to the local running store (which is awesome) and made her get her feet and stride assessed.
The store had a really cool set up- they measured the pressure in your feet, then did a video recording of your stride on a treadmill. Then they fill out a sheet of paper with all your information and help you find the right shoes!
I can only be a spectator for so long, so I decided to get analyzed too!
Apparently I stand with more weight on my right foot than on my left, I have high arches, and the arch on my right just barely collapses. It was strange seeing myself run in slow motion.
The “fit expert” suggested I get custom orthotics (of course) but I could get away with regular orthotics.
I’ve always been told I didn’t need orthotics, so I wasn’t convinced enough to buy any. I like my Mizunos, thank you
My mom ended up finding a pair of shoes she loved, and couldn’t believe the difference in how they felt.
Mission = success!
